Partner Plank Challenges
Five face-to-face partner challenges in plank position: high-fives, disc steals, ball rolls, mirror moves and side planks. It strengthens the core in a game format that keeps good form and motivation high.
How to play
- Review a correct plank: elbows or hands under shoulders, body in a straight line from head to heels, core tight. Partners face each other about 3 feet apart, each on a yoga mat (3 min).
- Challenge 1, alternating high-five: in a high plank, tap your partner's hand switching right and left. Challenge 2, disc steal: five discs in the middle; whoever steals more with one hand wins.
- Challenge 3, ball roll: partners roll a tennis ball back and forth without letting the hips drop. Challenge 4, mirror: one lifts an arm or leg and the other copies.
- Challenge 5, facing side planks: partners high-five with the top hand every 5 seconds.
- Each challenge lasts 40 seconds with 20 seconds of rest. Do two rounds of all five, switching partners for the second round (10 min).
- Finish with 2 minutes of back stretching on the mats.
Rules
- If the hips sag, drop to the knees and keep going: form comes before time.
- Steal with your hand only, without hitting or pushing your partner's arm.
- Each pair keeps space from the pairs next to them.
- Anyone with low-back discomfort stops and tells the teacher.
Variations
Easier
Do all challenges from the knees with 30 seconds of work and 30 of rest.
Standard
Two rounds of five challenges at 40 seconds of work and 20 of rest.

Adaptations

- Students with autism: show each challenge on a picture card and keep the same partner for both rounds.
- Low fitness level: choose a high plank, knee plank or hands on a bench.

- Strengthen the stabilizing muscles of the core.
- Cooperate and compete with good sportsmanship in partner challenges.
