Fitness Quiz Show Relay
A team quiz on health and fitness: each team decides on an answer and a runner carries a beanbag to the hoop for that choice. It combines content review, running and quick group decisions.
How to play
- Make 5 teams of 5 lined up behind their starting cone. Place 3 hoops labeled A, B and C 15 yards in front of each team (3 min).
- The teacher reads a question with three options, such as "Which muscle works hardest in a squat?" Each team has 10 seconds to decide.
- On the signal, the first runner takes a beanbag to the chosen hoop and comes back; meanwhile, the rest of the team does squats until the runner returns.
- The teacher gives the answer: a correct beanbag is worth 2 points and the first correct team back earns 1 bonus. The runner goes to the back of the line.
- Play 15 questions in about 12 minutes, keeping score on the whiteboard.
- Wrap-up: review the 3 most-missed questions and explain the answers (2 min).
Rules
- Runners wait for the signal even if the team has already decided.
- Only one beanbag per question, and it can't be moved once placed.
- Every team member runs at least twice.
- Safety: each team runs in its own lane and returns on the right.
Variations
Easier
Two-option questions and 15 seconds to decide.
Standard
Three options, 10 seconds to decide and a speed bonus.
Harder
Some questions are open-ended, and the runner says the answer aloud on arrival.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: the student is the spokesperson who calls the answer, or runs a shorter distance.
- Hearing impairment: questions are also written on the whiteboard as they are read.
- Shyness: teams decide by holding up fingers for the option number.
Learning goals
- Review health and fitness knowledge.
- Reach team agreements under time pressure.
- Stay focused and keep up effort throughout the game.
