Wall Rebound Dig Partners
In pairs facing a wall, one partner throws the ball against the wall and the other forearm passes the rebound with control. Students practice passing unpredictable balls, adjusting their feet, and cooperating to string passes together.
How to play
- Use chalk to mark a line 8 ft high on the wall and a floor line 10 ft from it; each pair takes 10 ft of wall (2 min).
- The tosser stands next to the wall, off to one side, and throws the ball above the line; the passer waits on the floor line (1 min).
- The passer bumps the rebound up so the tosser can catch it without moving; do sets of 10 and switch roles (4 min).
- The tosser varies the height and angle of the rebound: right, left, short, or long (3 min).
- Partner challenge: count how many good passes in a row the pair gets in 1 min per role; repeat twice to beat the mark (4 min).
- Finish with a class challenge: add up every pair's best score (1 min).
Rules
- Each pair stays in its section of wall, 6 ft from the next pair.
- Throw only when the passer is in a ready position.
- If the ball gets away toward another pair, collect it without crossing in front of their throws.
- The tosser never throws straight at the partner, always at the wall.
Variations
Easier
Let the rebound bounce once on the floor before passing.
Standard
Direct rebound off the wall and a forearm pass to the partner.
Harder
Move in to 6 ft so the rebound comes faster, and choose set or bump depending on height.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: pass from a seated position or wheelchair with a light ball and a slower rebound.
- Visual impairment: use a high-contrast ball and always throw to the same spot, calling "Now!"
- Higher skill level: after each pass, the passer touches the floor with one hand before the next rebound.
Learning goals
- Move the feet to get behind the ball.
- Control the forearm platform against varied rebounds.
- Cooperate with a partner to string passes together.

Teacher tip
This works great when you have only one net but plenty of open wall; use the outside of the gym or a handball wall. Watch for passers swinging their arms: the pass comes from the legs.
