Three Targets, One Choice
Each team attacks an end with three different targets: a hoop on the floor, a small goal, and a catching zone. Players must choose the least-defended target and finish the way each one requires, building carryover to basketball, team handball, and ultimate.
How to play
- Make 4 teams of 6 (one of 7) and set up 2 fields of 30 x 20 m. At each end, from left to right: a hoop on the floor, a small goal, and a 2 x 2 m square of flat disc cones.
- Score by bouncing the ball in the hoop from outside 2 m (1 point), shooting low into the goal from outside 3 m (1 point), or catching a pass in the square (2 points).
- Hand passes, up to 3 steps, and 3 seconds with the ball. Nobody stays in the square longer than 2 seconds.
- There are no goalies: defenders spread out to protect all three targets without entering the creases.
- Play 2 halves of 7 minutes. Halfway through each half, the teacher changes one target's value and teams reorganize.
- At halftime, each team decides which target to attack first and who covers each one.
Rules
- Nobody enters the hoop crease or the goal crease.
- No contact: win the ball by intercepting.
- Shots on goal stay low, and bounces into the hoop come from outside its crease.
- After a score, the team that was scored on inbounds from its end line.
Variations
Easier
Use two targets per end and add a neutral player who helps the offense.
Standard
Use three targets per end worth 1, 1, and 2 points.
Harder
A team may only score on a different target from the one it scored on last.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: the student plays as a fixed receiver beside the square; any pass they catch counts double.
- Autism: post a sign at each end with a picture of how to score on each target.
- Fitness level: skilled players may only score on the goal; students who tire defend the target closest to their end.
Learning goals
- Choose which target to attack based on how the defenders are spread out.
- Finish in different ways connected to several invasion games.
- Spread out as a team on defense to protect several targets at once.

Teacher tip
Students tend to attack the same target every time; ask out loud which one is open. Space the targets at least 5 m apart so defenders really have to choose.
