Student-Run Goaltimate League
Mini goaltimate league on three fields, organized and run by the students themselves: a committee sets up the goals, builds the schedule, keeps time and records results and spirit scores. Goaltimate, with a central goal and a clear zone, forces short passes and lots of disc movement.
How to play
- The organizing committee (three students) presents the six-team schedule and assigns fields; meanwhile teams build the goals with two poles and a rope (5 min).
- Quick rules review: you score by passing the disc through the goal to a teammate, and after every point or turnover the disc must be taken back past the clear line (3 min).
- Three rounds of 6-minute 4v4 games; the team sitting out each round keeps time and score (18 min).
- After the last round, each team rates each opponent's spirit from 0 to 4 on the sheet (3 min).
- The committee reads out the standings by points and by spirit, and teams put away the equipment (6 min).
Rules
- Poles are planted firmly or held with weighted cones, and the rope is pulled tight at about 6 feet high.
- Play is non-contact, and nobody jumps next to the goal so no one hits the poles.
- Committee decisions on scheduling are accepted; game calls are settled by self-refereeing.
- Water break between rounds.
Variations
Easier
Wider goal and no clear line.
Standard
4v4 league with a pole goal, a clear line and an organizing committee.
Harder
Play 5v5; a point counts only if the pass crosses the goal from more than 5 m away.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: joins the organizing committee or plays fixed thrower at the clear line.
- Autism: gets one specific committee task, such as running the stopwatch, with written instructions.
- Low fitness: teams can sub freely every 2 minutes.
Learning goals
- Organize and manage a sports competition independently.
- Apply goaltimate-specific rules in a real game.
- Value spirit of the game as part of the standings.

Meet with the committee the day before so they bring the schedule ready. Check the goals before starting: they are the only real hazard in the session.
