How to play
- In pairs with one disc: one-leg quad stretch while holding the disc flat on the palm of the free hand; 20 seconds per leg, then switch roles (2 min).
- Cross-body shoulder stretch with the disc resting on the straight forearm of the other arm (2 min).
- Seated hamstring stretch with the disc on the shin of the straight leg; if it falls, put it back and continue (2 min).
- Final gentle disc pass between pairs without a drop, then into the bin (2 min).
Rules
- Stretch until you feel tension, never pain, and don't bounce.
- If the disc falls, reset calmly; no rush and no points.
- During one-leg balance, your partner stands beside you in case you need support.
- Don't throw the discs during the stretches.
Variations
Easier
No disc, with one hand on the wall or on your partner.
Standard
Disc balanced in each position for 20 seconds.
Harder
Disc on the back of the hand, 30 seconds per position.
Adaptations
- Students with visual impairments: their partner places the disc and tells them when to switch positions.
- Students who use wheelchairs: do the shoulder and neck stretches with the disc resting on the palm or thigh.
- Students with a knee injury: replace the standing stretch with a seated or side-lying one.
Learning goals
- Restore range of motion after exercise.
- Hold balance and postural control.
- Support a partner with attention and care.
Equipment for a class of 25
- flying discs: 15
Teacher tip
The disc challenge keeps students still longer than a regular stretch. No discs? A plastic plate or a flat marker cone works.
