Steady Hands League: Team Precision Stations
Teams rotate through five slow-precision stations where points come from quality and calm, not speed. It works fine motor control, focus and cooperation in a low-intensity lesson.
How to play
- Make five teams of five or six and explain the stations and the points chart on the whiteboard (3 min).
- Rotations 1 and 2: "Pole balance," keep a tennis ball on a cone set on top of a pole while walking; "One-hand cup tower," the team builds it in turns (8 min).
- Rotations 3 and 4: "Beanbag to hoop," underhand toss into a hoop 5 meters away; "Hoop along the rope," the hoop travels down a taut rope held by two people without touching it (8 min).
- Rotation 5: "Cone line," place ten cones in a straight line while blindfolded, guided by a partner who can only say "yes" or "no" (4 min).
- Total the class points, compare with last session's score and discuss which station needed the most calm (2 min).
Rules
- Each station lasts four minutes; walk to the next one on the signal.
- Points go to the whole class, not to teams.
- Toss only in the marked direction with nobody in front.
- At the blindfold station, the guide makes sure there are no obstacles.
Variations
Easier
Shorter distances and six-cup towers.
Standard
Five stations with the standard points chart.
Harder
Use the non-dominant hand or foot for half the attempts at every station.
Adaptations
- Visually impaired students: at the tossing station, the hoop has a bell and a classmate claps from it.
- Wheelchair users: every station is done seated or at bench height; the pole station is done pushing the chair slowly.
- Students with low frustration tolerance: choose the easy or hard level at each station before starting.
Learning goals
- Control slow, precise movements.
- Stay focused across different tasks.
- Work together toward a shared class goal.
Equipment for a class of 25
- gym poles: 6
- hoops: 6
- tennis balls: 10
- cones: 20
- plastic cups: 30
- beanbags: 12
- long ropes: 2
Teacher tip
Set up the stations before class and leave an instruction card at each one. It's a good lesson for hot days or after an exam; the usual mistake is rushing to get more tries, so only score slow, complete attempts.
