Skills Market: Everyone Teaches a Movement Trick
Each student prepares a simple movement skill they've mastered, such as a juggling trick, a dance step, ball keep-ups or a balance, and teaches it to their group in two minutes. Then they teach a skill they just learned to another group, which highlights what everyone knows and strengthens group cohesion.
How to play
- Each student picks a skill they can teach in two minutes and plans three steps to explain it; equipment is available on a central table (4 min).
- Form groups of five; one at a time, each person teaches their skill for two minutes while the others practice (12 min).
- Mix the groups: each person teaches the new group one of the skills they learned, not their own (8 min).
- Final showcase: each group performs a short sequence that links three of the skills they learned (6 min).
Rules
- Skills can't include flips, rolls without mats or any risk of falling from a height.
- The person teaching gives every classmate at least one positive correction.
- Respect each person's turn to explain without interrupting.
- If someone can't pull off the skill, the attempt gets the same cheer as success.
Variations
Easier
The teacher offers a list of suggested skills with written instructions to choose from.
Standard
Each student teaches their skill to their group, then passes on a learned skill to a new group.
Harder
The teacher must also offer an easier and a harder progression of their skill.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: the student teaches an upper-body or object-handling skill and learns adapted versions of the others.
- Autism: the student can prepare the explanation in writing and teach with the help of a video demo.
- Hearing impairment: explanations rely on visual demos, and the group faces the person teaching.
Learning goals
- Value the movement skills of every group member.
- Explain and demonstrate a skill clearly and step by step.
- Strengthen group cohesion through peer teaching.

Teacher tip
Give notice the lesson before so students can choose their skill calmly. Have three or four ideas ready for anyone who says they can't do anything special.
