See, Think, Wonder Video Review
In groups of four, students watch a short clip recorded during class and analyze it with the See, Think, Wonder thinking routine. Students practice technical observation, separating facts from interpretations, and responsible device use.
How to play
- During the main activity, each group records a 20- to 30-second clip of a teammate or the group performing the task, with permission.
- During the cool-down, groups of four sit around their device and watch the clip twice (2 minutes).
- See: taking turns, each student names something visible without interpreting it, such as "lands heel first" (2 minutes).
- Think: each student explains what they think causes it and whether it helps or hurts the movement (2 minutes).
- Wonder: the group comes up with one or two questions to research or test next class, then deletes the video in front of the person recorded (3 minutes).
Rules
- Only record people who agree, and never share the video outside the group.
- During "See," give no opinions, only observable facts.
- Comments are about technique, never about how someone looks.
- Devices are used only for this task and turned off afterward.
Variations
Easier
The teacher projects one video for the whole class and leads all three phases.
Standard
Each group analyzes its own clip using all three phases.
Harder
The group compares its clip with a model video and writes down three technique differences.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: the student can film, lead the discussion, or be recorded doing a modified task.
- Visual impairment: a classmate describes the video aloud and the student contributes during Think and Wonder.
- Students self-conscious about their image: they can analyze another group's clip or choose not to be filmed.
Learning goals
- Observe and describe a technical skill accurately.
- Tell the difference between what they see and what they interpret.
- Use digital devices while respecting others' privacy.
Equipment for a class of 25
- tablets or smartphones: 6
Teacher tip
Go over the school's phone policy and have groups delete videos when done. A tripod or one designated camera person keeps the main activity from losing time.
