Partner Ball Cardio Circuit: 45 On, 15 to Switch
An eight-station partner cardio circuit where every exercise involves passing a ball while moving. It builds endurance through partner involvement and coordination.
How to play
- Introduce the eight stations: side-shuffle passes, dribble-and-relay out and back, pass after a squat, round the cone and receive, passes while jogging in place, zigzag bounce passes, toss-and-chase, and chest passes walking backward (5 min).
- Round one: 45 seconds of work with music and 15 seconds of silence to rotate to the next station (8 min).
- Active break: pulse check and one word per pair about how they coordinated (2 min).
- Round two with the challenge of not dropping the ball during any station (8 min).
- Walk while collecting balls and cones (2 min).
Rules
- Pass at chest height and always look at your partner.
- Each pair stays in its area and doesn't enter the next one.
- If the ball gets away, walk around the outside of the stations to get it.
- Music means work; silence means switch.
Variations
Easier
Six stations and 30 seconds of work.
Standard
Eight stations at 45/15, two rounds.
Harder
Pass only with the non-dominant hand or with a smaller ball.
Adaptations
- Wheelchair users: passing stations while moving in the chair, with cones farther apart.
- Visual impairment: a ball with a bell, using rolling passes.
- Students unsure with a ball: use a softer ball or bounce passes.
Learning goals
- Keep up high aerobic effort during the circuit.
- Coordinate movement and passing with a partner.
- Work together to meet each station's challenge.
Equipment for a class of 25
- balls: 15
- cones: 16
- speaker: 1
- station cards: 8
Teacher tip
Use soft or foam balls if the space is small. Set the stations in a circle so rotation always goes the same way.
