One-Touch Finish Futsal Game
A futsal game in which a goal only counts if it is a one-touch finish right after a teammate's pass. Students practice finishing: arriving on time to shoot, setting up the scoring pass, and attacking the space near the goal instead of shooting from anywhere.
How to play
- Set up two 100 x 60 ft fields with small goals, goalies, and a 13 ft box marked with cones. Make 4 teams of 6 or 7: 4 field players plus a goalie and a sub (3 min).
- Warm up for 3 minutes in threes: a ground pass from outside and a one-touch finish into an empty goal.
- Game: a goal only counts if the shooter's first touch after a teammate's pass puts it in. A shot after dribbling does not count.
- A one-touch goal from inside the box is 1 point; if the pass comes from the sideline, it is 2. Play 2 halves of 5 minutes (10 min).
- Wrap-up for 4 minutes: who got to the finish, and from where? Play 2 more minutes using what you discussed.
Rules
- The goalie may only use the hands inside the box.
- No tackling from behind and no sliding on the floor.
- Safety: finish with the inside of the foot or the laces along the ground; a ball above the waist does not count.
Variations
Easier
Allow two touches to finish and use a wider goal.
Standard
Four on four plus goalies with a one-touch finish required.
Harder
The scoring pass must also be one touch.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: the student acts as a free sideline passer for the attacking team, and their assists count double.
- Visual impairment: use a ball with bells and have the passer call out the shooter's name.
- Fitness level: play goalie or short shifts as a passer.
Learning goals
- Arrive on time and attack the space near the goal.
- Finish accurately with one touch.
- Pass to the teammate in the best scoring position.
Equipment for a class of 25
- futsal balls: 2
- small goals: 4
- pinnies: 13
- cones: 16
Teacher tip
At first, everyone asks for the ball at their feet and nobody attacks the box; point out the gap between the defender and the goalie. Keep the fields away from glass walls.
