Mock Fitness Exam with a Scoring Table
A mock entrance fitness exam with four stations measured by the students themselves and a scoring table that turns each result into points. Students get realistic test practice, learn to manage nerves and use the results to plan their training.
How to play
- Set up 4 stations: standing broad jump, seated medicine ball chest pass, 50 m dash and 1-minute curl-ups (4 min).
- Hand out a simplified scoring table from 0 to 10 points per event. Groups of 6 with two rotating judges per station (2 min).
- Self-led specific warm-up in groups, just like on exam day (3 min).
- Rotate every 5 minutes: two attempts for jump and throw, one for the dash and one for curl-ups. Judges measure and record without commenting (20 min).
- Each student converts results into points and works out their average (1 min).
- Wrap-up: each student names their weakest event and writes a goal for the next six weeks.
Rules
- Follow the table's protocol exactly: a jump is a foul if the feet shuffle.
- If a result is in doubt, the teacher decides.
- Safety: 50 m in separate lanes with 10 m to slow down, and throw only when the landing area is clear.
Variations
Easier
Use only three stations and treat the table as a reference without calculating an average score.
Standard
Four stations with student judges and conversion of results into points.
Harder
Add a 1,000 m run at the end, following the real order of an entrance test.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: seated throwing and upper body strength stations scored on personal improvement.
- Anxiety: the first time, the student may take part only as a judge.
- Lower fitness level: grade progress between two mock exams, not the absolute score.
Learning goals
- Experience the real conditions of an entrance fitness exam.
- Interpret a scoring table and turn results into an overall rating.
- Identify weak areas and set realistic training goals.

Teacher tip
Use a simple table based on a real academy or program test and explain it is only a guide. Repeat the mock exam at the end of the term to show progress.
