Mini Tramp: Straight, Tuck and Pike Jumps with Two Spotters
An introduction to basic mini trampoline jumps with a stuck landing on a crash mat and two spotters at each station. Only non-rotating jumps are practiced, and landing stable and on the spot is the top priority.
How to play
- Set up two stations with the teacher: mini trampoline seated firmly with no wobble, a crash mat right in front and mats on the sides (4 min).
- Practice landings from a low bench onto the crash mat: feet together, knees and hips bent, arms forward and eyes ahead (5 min).
- Straight jump: three running steps, two-foot takeoff in the center of the bed and a stuck landing, with one spotter on each side of the crash mat (7 min).
- Tuck jump and, for those who are stable, straddle pike (8 min).
- Peer review of landings at the station: feet together? no extra steps? eyes ahead? (6 min).
Rules
- No jumping without the crash mat in place and two spotters in position.
- No twists or flips: saltos and half turns are not part of this session.
- The next jumper goes only when the previous one has stepped off the crash mat and the spotter gives the signal.
- The teacher stands between the two stations and can stop any jump.
- Socks off or shoes tied tight, and nothing in pockets.
Variations
Easier
Do only the straight jump from a standing takeoff, with no run.
Standard
Straight, tuck and straddle pike jumps with three running steps.
Harder
Hold the jump shape for a moment in the air and stick the landing for 3 seconds.
Adaptations
- Ankle or knee injury: acts as spotter or turn manager and checks the setup.
- Visual impairment: does not jump off the mini trampoline; does jumps from the low bench to the crash mat with a guide partner.
- Fear or nerves: starts with small bounces in place on the mini trampoline, holding hands with both spotters, before taking off.
Learning goals
- Perform basic mini trampoline jumps with a stable landing.
- Know and follow the safety measures for rebound equipment.
- Spot classmates' jumps effectively.
Equipment for a class of 25

Teacher tip
Check the mini trampoline before class and do not use it if any spring or strap is damaged. With 25-30 students, those waiting can practice the jump shapes on the floor next to the station.
