How to play
- Size ropes and a quick demo of the nine steps: two-foot bounce, alternate foot, boxer, ski, bell, heel tap, criss-cross, backward jump and side swing (5 min).
- In pairs: one tries a step while the other counts reps and signs the square if it's done; switch every attempt (7 min).
- Keep filling squares; every four minutes the teacher calls a star step everyone tries (7 min).
- Anyone who gets bingo picks a new square and teaches it to another pair (3 min).
- Debrief: which step was hardest and what tip helped (3 min).
Rules
- Sign honestly: no reps, no signature.
- Keep two meters between jumpers.
- While your partner jumps, you rest actively: count and watch.
- There's no overall winner; every line is a personal win.
Variations
Easier
Ten reps per square, one miss allowed.
Standard
Twenty reps per square (five for the criss-cross).
Harder
A card with combo steps plus one free square for your own trick.
Adaptations
- Wheelchair users: a card of one-hand rope swings, hand switches and figure eights.
- Students with low fitness: short sets and free choice of square order, with no comments about bodies.
- Deaf or hard-of-hearing students: a picture card and visual demos of each step.
Learning goals
- Perform basic and varied individual jump rope steps.
- Assess a partner's work honestly.
- Manage your own effort with active rest.
Equipment for a class of 25
- jump ropes: 30
- bingo cards: 30

Teacher tip
Laminate the cards and use dry-erase markers so they last all year. A common mistake is jumping too high on the criss-cross; tell them to cross at the waist, not the chest.
