Futsal: Goalkeeper Angles with Ropes to the Posts
Two ropes are tied from the posts to the ball to make the shooting triangle visible, and the goalkeeper learns to stand on the bisector at the distance that narrows the angle. Then it is applied to real futsal shots, with the keeper choosing their position on every attempt.
How to play
- Tie two ropes to the posts of each goal and run them to a ball placed in different spots in the half court (3 min).
- In groups of three, the goalkeeper stands in the middle of the triangle and steps forward until their outstretched arms nearly touch both ropes; a partner checks the position (5 min).
- Move the ball to six cone-marked spots and the keeper resets each time in under three seconds (4 min).
- Without ropes, soft shots from the same spots: an observer notes whether the keeper was set correctly before the shot (6 min).
- Each keeper explains which spot was hardest and why (2 min).
Rules
- Ropes are only used in the phases without shooting and are removed before any shot.
- Shots are with the inside of the foot at medium power, never at the head.
- The goalkeeper wears gloves and knee pads.
- Waiting groups stand behind the end line, away from the shooting path.
Variations
Easier
Only three ball positions, all central.
Standard
Six ball positions with ropes and then soft shots without ropes.
Harder
The ball is passed between two shooters and the keeper resets with every pass before the shot.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: checks from behind the goal whether the partner is on the bisector and corrects them.
- Partial visual impairment: touches the ropes to feel the triangle and works only on the positioning phase.
- Finger or wrist injury: does not face shots and works as observer and shooter.
Learning goals
- Understand the geometry of the shooting angle.
- Stand on the bisector at the right distance.
- Prevent goalkeeper injuries with protective gear and good technique.

Teacher tip
Link the task to math: the bisector and the narrowing angle are easy to see with the ropes and usually spark good questions.
