Five-Station Score Rounds
A classic round-based workout: five one-minute stations where each student counts reps and totals a score per round, with one minute of rest between rounds. It builds endurance and teaches students to record and compare their own performance.
How to play
- Set up five stations: medicine ball wall throws, box step-ups, medicine ball squats, jump rope and mountain climbers; groups of five (3 min).
- Give each student a card, or use phones, to record reps per station (1 min).
- Round 1 (5 min + 1 rest): one minute per station counting reps; rotate on the whistle.
- Round 2 (5 min + 1): same order; the goal is to match the round 1 score.
- Round 3 (5 min): final round with the same goal.
- Analysis (4 min): each student totals the score for each round and compares the drop-off with a partner.
Rules
- On the box, step up and down; no jumping.
- Wall throws go to a high target, never toward another station.
- Count your own reps honestly.
- Walk between stations, moving clockwise.
Variations
Easier
Two rounds with 90 seconds of rest between them.
Standard
Three rounds of five stations with one minute of rest.
Harder
Cut rest between rounds to 30 seconds and use a heavier medicine ball.
Adaptations
- For limited mobility, replace the box station with overhead raises using a light ball.
- For students with autism, keep the station order fixed and give a ten-second warning before each rotation.
- Students with lower fitness use a 2 lb ball and a lower box.
Learning goals
- Maintain performance across several rounds.
- Record and analyze your own performance data.
- Use score drop-off as a sign of fatigue.

Teacher tip
Before starting, clarify what counts as a rep at each station. Check that the boxes are stable and keep the jump rope station away from the throwing wall.
