Drink Target: What Should I Drink and When?
A target-throwing game with five hoops, each one a drink: water, milk, 100% juice, sports drink, and energy drink. For each situation, the group picks the right drink and throws into its hoop.

How to play
- Intro: five hoops at different distances with their signs. The energy drink hoop is the closest, as an easy trap (3 min).
- Situation rounds: the teacher reads one (regular recess, an hour-long game in the heat, snack before practice, test tomorrow and very sleepy...). The group decides in 15 seconds and a different member throws each time. Double points for the right drink and a hit (10 min).
- Review the tricky ones: water works almost every time; sports drinks only for long, intense efforts with heavy sweating; energy drinks are not recommended for kids and teens (3 min).
- Final challenge: throw with the non-dominant hand and from farther away (4 min).
Rules
- Throw from behind the cone line.
- Nobody collects beanbags until every group has thrown.
- The group decides together, not just the thrower.
- Respect others' opinions even if you disagree.
Variations
Easier
Closer hoops and only three drinks (water, juice, energy drink).
Standard
Five drinks at different distances.
Harder
Throw backward over the head or with a bounce first.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: throws seated from a closer line.
- Visual impairment: a partner claps from the chosen hoop to guide the throw.
- Students with reading difficulties: signs include a picture, and situations are read aloud.
Learning goals
- Choose the right drink for each activity moment.
- Understand why energy drinks are not for teens.
- Improve throwing accuracy.
Equipment for a class of 25
- hula hoops: 5
- beanbags: 15
- drink signs: 5
- cones: 6
Teacher tip
Prepare about ten situations before class. The usual mistake is thinking sports drinks suit any workout: use it to push water as the default.
