Corridor Keeper Push-Through
In a 6-foot-wide corridor of mats, a keeper uses their trunk and arms to stop an attacker from crossing to the far end. It is a one-on-one frontal pushing game that builds strength, faking, a low base, and controlled contact.
How to play
- Set up corridors 6 feet wide and 12 feet long with mats and mark the goal line at the far end with cones (3 min).
- Work in trios: a keeper in the middle of the corridor, an attacker at the entrance, and a judge on the side who times and watches.
- On the whistle, the attacker has 15 seconds to cross the goal line by pushing or faking; the keeper may only stop them with chest, shoulders, and arms wrapped around the trunk.
- If the attacker crosses, they score 1 point; if they are stopped or step out the sides, the keeper scores. Each student gets three attempts (4 min).
- Rotate roles within the trio and repeat the cycle three times, switching trios halfway through (11 min).
Rules
- The attacker may not charge headfirst or run more than two steps before contact.
- The keeper wraps the trunk; no grabbing the neck, head, or legs.
- If anyone falls, the judge stops the attempt with the whistle.
Variations
Easier
Widen the corridor to 10 feet so faking is easier.
Standard
Six-foot corridor and 15 seconds per attempt.
Harder
Two keepers in a row: get past the first, then the second.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: serves as judge and timer, or as a seated keeper at the goal line who must tag the attacker with a foam ball.
- Hearing impairment: the judge starts by dropping an arm and stops by crossing both arms.
- Fitness level: pair by weight and shorten the corridor for the weaker attacker.
Learning goals
- Combine pushing and faking to get past an opponent.
- Stop an opponent with a stable base and a safe trunk hold.
- Take the judge role responsibly.
Equipment for a class of 25
- mats: 16
- cones: 16
Teacher tip
Require attempts to start already in contact or one step apart to prevent running collisions. Praise attackers who fake before pushing.
