Choose-Your-Path Fitness Clue Circuit
An eight-station circuit where each card gives a strength or endurance exercise and a question about health and posture; the answer students choose sends them to the next station. If they get everything right, the group collects all eight letters of a secret word.
How to play
- Eight numbered cones are spread across the field 50–65 ft apart, each with a clue card. A letter is hidden under each cone. Groups of 3 (2 min).
- Each group starts at a different station. They do the card's exercise together (for example, 15 squats, a 30-second plank, 10 knee push-ups, 20 mountain climbers).
- Then they read the question, such as 'To pick a backpack up off the floor, do you bend your knees or your back?', with two answers that each give a station number.
- A correct answer leads to a station with a letter; a wrong one leads to an error cone with 10 jumping jacks and directions back to the previous station.
- Groups jog together between cones. The correct path passes through all eight stations and back to the start (about 15 min).
- Each group writes the letters in order and unscrambles the secret word at the end (for example, POSTURES). Wrap up with the most-missed questions (3 min).
Rules
- The group always moves together and waits for the slowest member.
- Finish the exercise before reading the question.
- Safety: jog around busy stations, never through groups that are working.
Variations
Easier
Fewer reps and questions with a supporting picture.
Standard
Eight stations with an exercise, a health question, and a letter for the secret word.
Harder
Three answer choices per question and double reps at the error cone.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: set the circuit up in a smaller area, and each card has a seated version of the exercise.
- Reading difficulty: one group member reads out loud, and cards include pictures.
- Higher fitness: add a side-shuffle trip back to the previous station and return.
Learning goals
- Perform bodyweight strength and endurance exercises independently.
- Use knowledge about posture and health to make decisions.
- Work as a group to complete a course.
Equipment for a class of 25
- clue cards: 9
- cones: 9
Teacher tip
Number the cones in random order so the correct path crisscrosses the field and keeps students moving.
