Bodyweight Strength Circuit (Middle School)
A bodyweight and bench strength circuit with six stations, designed so each student picks the version they can do with good technique. It builds leg, arm and core strength and teaches students to track their own progress.
How to play
- Joint warm-up and 2 minutes of easy jogging (4 min).
- Explain and demo the six stations with their easier and harder versions: squats, incline push-ups with hands on a bench, plank, glute bridge, bench triceps dips and lunges (4 min).
- Form six groups of 4 or 5, one per station, each with a tracking sheet (1 min).
- Round one: 40 seconds of work and 20 seconds to rotate stations; everyone records their reps (6 min).
- 2-minute water break and technique feedback (2 min).
- Round two, trying to beat their reps or move up a version (6 min).
- Gentle stretches and equipment cleanup (2 min).
Rules
- Technique comes before the number of reps.
- Keep a neutral spine in every exercise.
- Benches must be stable and pushed against the wall for dips.
- Rotate stations in the same direction and only on the signal.
Variations
Easier
Supported versions: wall push-ups, plank on the knees, squat to a bench.
Standard
Six stations at 40 seconds of work, two rounds.
Harder
Three rounds or harder versions: jump squats, regular push-ups, reverse lunges.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: a seated version of each station, such as table push-ups, arm raises and core squeezes.
- Hearing impairment: visual rotation signal by raising a sign.
- Injury or low strength: an alternative exercise at the affected station and shorter work time.
Learning goals
- Improve muscular endurance using body weight.
- Choose the version of each exercise that fits their level.
- Record reps to track personal progress.
Equipment for a class of 25
- mats: 12
- benches: 3
Teacher tip
Post a sign at each station showing both versions. Bench dips load the shoulder heavily: limit the depth to 90 degrees.

Accuracy Circuit with Cloth Targets
Accuracy stations with cloth targets on the floor and on the wall, where students toss bean bags and score points by ring. They work on throwing accuracy and matching force to distance.
Acrosport in Groups of 4
Partner and group stunts (acrosport) in groups of 4: building simple human pyramids and balances with bases, flyers and spotters while following safety rules. Students develop strength, balance, cooperation and creativity by linking poses together.
Adapted 6v6 Volleyball
6v6 volleyball with adapted rules so the ball stays in play longer and the whole team takes part: catching is allowed on the first contact and serves come from closer in. Students practice the set, the forearm pass (bump), the serve and rotation.
Adapted Beach Handball
An adapted beach handball game with a soft ball: no dribbling, three steps with the ball, and double points for spectacular goals such as jump or spin shots. It develops throwing, passing and team play in a fun, safe way.
Adapted Beach Volleyball 2v2
Modified 2v2 beach volleyball with a foam ball and portable net on small courts. Students work on the set and forearm pass, communication with a partner and cooperation to build a rally.
Adapted School Triathlon
An adapted school triathlon that links a run, jump rope and a skills circuit, with transitions in a marked zone. Students build endurance, manage their pace and practice switching quickly between tasks.
