Badminton Stroke Stations Rotation
A circuit of five stations, one per basic stroke, with groups of five rotating through and a task card at each station. Students work on the serve, clear, drop, net shot, and drive with a measurable challenge at every station.
How to play
- Set up five stations on the courts with task cards: serve at hoops, clear past the long service line, drop into hoops near the net, net-shot rally, and fast drive rally (3 min).
- Form five groups of five; each group starts at a different station and reads the card out loud.
- Spend 4 min at each station: at target stations, one student feeds and the rest take turns hitting; at rally stations, students play in pairs while one keeps count.
- Each group writes its best score for the station on the card: hits in a hoop or shots in a row.
- On the whistle, groups rotate clockwise with 30 seconds to switch; complete the whole circuit (20 min).
- Wrap-up: each group says where it got its best score and which station needs more practice (2 min).
Rules
- Each station stays in its own area: never hit toward another station.
- The shuttles from each station stay there when groups rotate.
- The feeder changes every minute.
- Safety: at target stations, nobody collects shuttles until the round is over.
Variations
Easier
The cards tell students to toss the shuttle by hand and hit from closer in.
Standard
Five 4-min stations with a measurable challenge and a peer feeder.
Harder
Each station adds a condition, such as alternating forehand and backhand or hitting after moving.
Adaptations
- For students with limited mobility, each station has a marked fixed spot to hit from without moving.
- For students with autism, the cards include pictures and the rotation order is shown on a whiteboard diagram.
- For stronger students, the challenge at each station is doubled.
Learning goals
- Perform the five basic strokes with proper technique.
- Record your own score and compare it with previous attempts.
- Work independently as a group by following written instructions.

- shuttlecocks: 50
- nets: 4
- hoops: 10

Teacher tip
Position yourself near the most technically demanding station, usually the clear. Write the cards with short sentences and a picture so groups do not need to ask.
