Adapted Padel Match with Golden Point Scoring
Adapted padel doubles matches with the underhand bounce serve, tennis-style scoring (15, 30, 40), and a golden point at deuce. Students learn the basic rules, manage the score, and make decisions under pressure.
How to play
- Spend 4 minutes on the serve: bounce the ball behind the line, hit below the waist, and go diagonally; two tries per point.
- Scoring: 15, 30, 40, and game; at 40-40 a single golden point is played and the receiving team picks which side receives.
- Mark 33 x 66 ft courts with cones and a portable net; if there is a wall, the ball may rebound off it after the bounce, like the glass.
- Play best-of-3-games matches for 8 minutes; serve switches to the other pair every game and each pair calls the score.
- After each match, winners move up a court and losers move down; play three matches.
Rules
- A serve that clips the net and lands in is replayed.
- The ball must bounce in the opponents' court before touching the wall.
- For safety, nobody backpedals blindly toward the wall, and everyone wears the paddle strap on the wrist.
Variations
Easier
Play rally scoring to 7 points with no games.
Standard

- Hearing impairment: show the score with fingers before every serve.
- Lower skill level: a third serve attempt is allowed.
Learning goals

- Choose the receiving side on the golden point with good judgment.

Teacher tip
Have pairs choose the golden-point side out loud and explain why: it's a great tactical moment. Check beforehand that there are no objects or benches by the rebound wall.
