Acrosport Stunt Card Challenge
Groups of three or four work through acrosport stunt cards ordered by difficulty, and the group decides when it is ready to move up a level. Students work on balance, self-assessment, and safe cooperation.
How to play
- Place three piles of challenge cards in the middle: green (one-level stunts), yellow (two levels), and red (four-person stunts). Make groups of 3 or 4, each with a mat.
- Each group takes a green card, builds the stunt, and holds it for 5 seconds. If they do it with control, the spotter initials the group's sheet.
- With two green cards signed, the group may move to yellow; with two yellow, to red. Play for 15 minutes.
- Every 5 minutes, blow the whistle: everyone dismounts, the teacher points out a common mistake, and roles rotate.
- For the last 4 minutes, each group picks its best stunt and shows it at the same time as everyone else, frozen for 5 seconds.
- Final 3-minute check-in: each group shares how many cards it completed and what helped.
Rules
- A stunt only counts if it is built and taken down with no falls and no rushing.
- There is always one free spotter watching.
- No skipping levels without the required initials.
- If anyone feels pain, dismount right away and tell the teacher.
Variations
Easier
Use only green and yellow cards with 3-second holds.
Standard
Three levels of cards with 5-second holds and role rotation.
Harder
Each stunt must be entered from a rhythmic march and exited with a roll or turn.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: special cards with stunts where the student is a seated base, or the student acts as a judge who initials sheets.
- Visual impairment: a partner describes the stunt and guides the student's hands to the grips.
- Advanced students: ask them to draw a new card for another group.
Learning goals
- Maintain static balance in individual and group stunts.
- Judge honestly whether a stunt is mastered before moving up a level.
- Collaborate with the group while applying safety rules during builds.
Equipment for a class of 25
- mats: 8
- challenge cards: 30
Teacher tip
Make cards with a drawing and the contact points marked in color. Watch that no group jumps to red because of time pressure; quality matters more than quantity.
