Zone Tag (Middle School)
Tag game on a field divided into zones, where the way you move and who can tag changes from zone to zone.
How to play
- Divide the field into four zones with cones.
- Each zone has its own way of moving: running, side-shuffling, high knees and backward.
- Two or three taggers wear pinnies.
- Anyone tagged puts on the pinnie and becomes a tagger.
Rules
- Use each zone's way of moving.
- Tagging means a light touch on the back.
- Nobody leaves the field.
Variations
Easier
Two zones and one tagger.
Standard
Four zones and three taggers.
Harder
Zones change rules every minute on the teacher's signal.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: a safe zone where nobody can be tagged.
- Contact: open-hand touch only.
Learning goals
- Improve agility and different ways of moving.
- Raise heart rate in a motivating way.
