Team Thermometer: Reflection on the Move
Five cones in a line make a 1-to-5 scale; for each statement about teamwork, students move slowly to their number. It's a quick, visual reflection on how the group cooperated today.
How to play
- Five cones in a row, 2 meters apart: from 1 (not at all) to 5 (a lot). Explanation (1 min).
- The teacher reads five statements ("I felt heard," "we split up the tasks well," "I suggested an idea"...). Each one uses a different slow movement: heel-to-toe, side step, carefully backward, long strides (4 min).
- A volunteer suggests the last statement and the group lines up (2 min).
- Wrap-up: three volunteers explain their position in one sentence, and the class notes one improvement for the next challenge (1 min).
Rules
- Nobody comments on or argues about someone else's spot.
- Explaining is optional; speaking is voluntary.
- Move slowly and watch where you're going.
Variations
Easier
3-cone scale (a little, some, a lot).
Standard
5-cone scale with five statements.
Harder
5-cone scale, then each team finds its average and suggests one change.
Adaptations
- Wheelchair users: cones spaced on smooth ground with room to turn.
- Visual impairment: each cone has a classmate who calls out its number as they approach.
- Students afraid of being exposed: everyone else closes their eyes for that statement, and the teacher only notes the summary.
Learning goals
- Reflect on your own participation in the group.
- Share evaluations respectfully.
- Suggest improvements for the next challenge.
Equipment for a class of 25

Teacher tip
Use the same statements at the start and end of the unit to compare. If you see a student alone at the low end, talk to them afterward, never in front of the group.
