Team Parkour Line: Precision, Vault and Roll in One Flow
Each team designs a short parkour line over low obstacles with a precision jump, a vault and a landing roll, then runs it smoothly. The challenge is picking techniques every member can do safely.
How to play
- Explain the task and each team's equipment; refresh the shoulder roll on a mat (5 min).
- Design: each team sketches its line (15 m max) and lists which technique each member uses at each obstacle (7 min).
- Setup and safety check with the teacher (5 min).
- Practice section by section, then full runs; a team observer logs stops and hesitation steps (13 min).
- Line swap: each team runs another team's line using their own techniques (7 min).
- Wrap-up: each team says what it would change after seeing others use its line (3 min).
Rules
- No obstacle higher than a three-section plinth, and every obstacle stable.
- Rolls only on mats and only from a low drop.
- One runner on the line at a time.
- Anyone can swap any technique for an easier version at no penalty.
Variations
Easier
Three-obstacle line with any techniques.
Standard
Full line with precision, vault and roll.
Harder
Line with two alternate routes, timed with a penalty for hesitation steps.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: design the line and run it with adapted crossings (seated vaults, going around) or lead as observer.
- Shoulder injury: replace the roll with a bent-knee landing.
- Deaf or hard-of-hearing students: each runner's start is signaled with a flag or a raised cone.
Learning goals
- Design a parkour sequence that works for the whole team.
- Link parkour techniques smoothly.
- Match technique choice to your own level.
Equipment for a class of 25
- gym benches: 4
- plinths: 2
- mats: 12
- cones: 12
- observation cards: 6
Teacher tip
Set up the equipment in six islands before class so setup doesn't eat the lesson. The usual mistake is designing for the most skilled student: require each member's technique on the card.
