Tag Snatchers: Belt Tag With No One Out
Everyone wears a belt with two tags and tries to pull other people's tags while keeping their own. It warms up the body and trains the tag pull and moving into space without contact.

How to play
- Put on belts with the tags on each hip and jog freely inside the square (2 min).
- Round 1: pull anyone's tag; if you lose one, grab it back, reattach it and keep playing (2 min).
- Round 2: only right-side tags count; switch to the left on the signal (2 min).
- Round 3 in pairs holding hands: the pair attacks and defends together (2 min).
- Count-up: each student says how many tags they pulled and hands back the ones they hold (2 min).
Rules
- No covering your tag with your hands or spinning to protect it.
- Touch only the tag, never clothes or bodies.
- When you pull a tag, hold it up, shout "Tag!" and hand it back.
- If the square gets crowded, switch to fast walking.
Variations
Easier
Bigger square, and tags tucked loosely outside the shorts so they come off easily.
Standard
A square about 20 × 20 m for 25–30 students.
Harder
Smaller square and play with a rugby ball: whoever holds it can't pull tags.
Adaptations
- Wheelchair users: attach the tag to the side of the chair and keep the area uncrowded.
- Students with low vision: high-contrast tags and a guide partner in round 3.
- Students with an ankle injury: play walking inside a coned zone where nobody runs.
Learning goals
- Warm up with changes of direction.
- Practice a clean tag pull.
- Play with no contact and no eliminations.
Equipment for a class of 25
- tag belts: 30
- cones: 8
Teacher tip
Check that the Velcro sticks before you start. With no belts, a strip of cloth or bandana tucked into the waistband works. Common mistake: spinning to protect the tag; correct it in the first minute.
