Supply Chain: Gear Goes Back Without Anyone Moving
The whole class forms a chain from the equipment to the storage room and returns it hand to hand with trunk rotations, without moving their feet. It's an orderly cleanup that doubles as an active cool-down.
How to play
- The class lines up in a zigzag from the equipment area to the cart or storage room, an arm's length apart (1 min).
- Round one: pass the equipment hand to hand by rotating the trunk to one side, feet still (2 min).
- Round two: sort by type in an agreed order (cones, then hoops, then balls), rotating to the other side (2 min).
- Check: the last person counts the equipment and the class makes sure nothing is missing (1 min).
Rules
- Feet don't move; only the trunk turns.
- Hand items over; no throwing.
- If something drops, the person who dropped it picks it up while the chain waits.
Variations
Easier
Straight line, hand-offs facing each other.
Standard
Zigzag line with trunk rotations.
Harder
Alternate passing over the head and through the legs.
Adaptations
- Wheelchair users: take a spot in the chain with spacing adjusted to their reach.
- Back injury: stand at the end counting equipment, no twisting.
- Visual impairment: the previous person says "coming" before handing over.
Learning goals
- Put equipment away in an orderly, responsible way.
- Mobilize the trunk at an easy pace.
- Cooperate on an everyday class task.
Equipment for a class of 25
- cones: 20
- hoops: 15
- balls: 10
- equipment carts: 2
Teacher tip
Use it after lessons with lots of equipment: it's faster than everyone putting away their own. Set up the start of the chain yourself so groups don't bunch up.
