Student Coach Stations with Passports
Set up five warm-up stations, each run by a student coach who explains the move, gives cues, and stamps a passport. Everyone else rotates freely until they've completed every station, building warm-up independence and leadership.
How to play
- Pick five student coaches and give them 2 minutes before class with their task card: ankle and knee mobility, hips, shoulders, locomotor moves with pace changes, and light jumps.
- Set the five stations in a big circle, about 10 yards apart, each with a cone and its task card.
- Give everyone else a passport listing the five stations and pair them up; each pair starts at a different station.
- At each station, the coach explains in 15 seconds, the pair works for 1 minute, and the coach signs or checks the passport if the technique is right.
- Pairs rotate clockwise; if a station is full, they jog lightly around it while they wait.
- At the 6-minute mark, swap the coaches for five volunteers who have finished their passport, and the first coaches do a quick round of their own.
Rules
- Coaches only sign after seeing at least one good rep.
- No more than two pairs at a station at the same time.
- Coaches give feedback positively: first what's good, then one fix.
- Safety: the jump station always comes after the ankle and knee station.
Variations
Easier
Three stations, with the teacher helping the coaches.
Standard
Five stations with a coach and a signed passport.
Harder
Coaches write one specific technique cue for each pair on the passport.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: the student can be the permanent coach at the shoulder station and use an upper-body version of the passport.
- Shyness: coaches can work in pairs and read the explanation off the card.
- Fitness level: each card offers a basic and an advanced level, and the pair chooses.
Learning goals
- Complete a full warm-up independently by following a station route.
- Explain and correct a move for classmates using clear language.
- Recognize correct technique in basic mobility exercises.
Equipment for a class of 25

Teacher tip
Choose quieter students as the first coaches and prep them ahead of time; they often step up when given real responsibility.
