Stress Body Map Silhouette
After a quick body scan, each student colors in on a printed outline where they feel stress or nerves before a test or a competition, then picks an exercise from class to relax each area. It builds body awareness of stress and independence in managing it.
How to play
- Students sit at their spot with the body outline worksheet and two markers, one red and one green (30 sec).
- 2-minute body scan with eyes closed: guide their attention from feet to head and ask them to recall the night before a big test, noticing which areas tighten.
- With the red marker they color the areas where they usually feel stress: knot in the stomach, raised shoulders, clenched jaw, restless legs, and so on (2 min).
- With the green marker, next to each red area they write an exercise that relaxes it, like 'shrug and drop the shoulders' or 'belly breathing' (1.5 min).
- For 1 minute, each student practices the green exercise for their reddest area at their spot.
- 1-minute wrap-up: with a show of hands, tally which areas came up most and point out that the body warns about stress before the mind does; worksheets go in their journal.
Rules
- The worksheet is personal and only shared if they want.
- Chosen exercises must be safe and doable while seated in class.
- No one comments on or jokes about someone else's worksheet.
Variations
Easier
Color only the red areas and pick one exercise for the main one.
Standard
Color the red areas and give each one a green exercise.
Harder
Do the worksheet twice, now and during finals week, and compare the changes.
Adaptations
- For students with limited hand mobility, the student points to the areas and a classmate or the teacher colors them in.
- For students with visual impairments, use a raised-line outline or point to areas on their own body while someone records them.
- For students with autism, offer a set list of sensations and exercises with pictures to choose from.
Learning goals
- Identify where in the body stress shows up.
- Match each stress signal with a specific relaxation technique.
- Create a personal tool to use during test season.
Equipment for a class of 25

Teacher tip
Have plenty of extra worksheets and a large outline on the board for modeling. Review the techniques from earlier classes with them so they have options to choose from.
