Slow Wall Target: Precision Fronton to Bring Your Heart Rate Down
A cool-down with slow open-hand hits against taped targets on the wall. Precision demands calm breathing and a still body, so heart rates drop while the challenge stays on.

How to play
- Targets: each pair tapes a square of about 40 cm on the wall at chest height (1 min).
- Slow hits: from 3 m, a soft palm strike after one bounce aiming at the target; each hit scores a point (3 min).
- Control challenge: step back after each hit and step in after each miss, no rushing between shots (2 min).
- Peel and chat: peel the tape off as you walk, and each pair shares their record and how they feel now compared with the end of the game (2 min).
Rules
- Between shots, wait until the ball is still in your hand.
- Soft hits: if the ball comes back fast, you hit too hard.
- Each pair stays in its own stretch of wall, apart from the rest.
Variations
Easier
A bigger target and a hand throw instead of a strike.
Standard
Palm strike after a bounce, stepping back progressively.
Harder
Non-dominant hand only, or a smaller target.
Adaptations
- Wheelchair users: throw or strike from a stationary position with a lower target.
- Low vision: a bigger target in high-contrast tape; the partner says whether it went high, low, left or right.
- Hurt hand: throw with the other hand, or use the foot for a soft pass to the wall.
Learning goals
- Bring intensity down gradually.
- Control the force and direction of the strike.
- Notice how your body has changed since the hard effort.
Equipment for a class of 25
- soft rubber balls: 30
- masking tape: 2
Teacher tip
Masking tape peels off painted walls without leaving marks. Remind them it's a precision challenge, not a speed one: if they speed up, count three seconds out loud between hits.
