Slow-Motion Replay: Relive the Lesson Standing Up
Standing and without rolling, students replay the lesson's movements in ultra slow motion (hand placement, tuck, cartwheel through the air) while a partner guesses the skill. It brings heart rates down and reviews key points.
How to play
- In a circle, the teacher does the backward roll hand position in slow motion and everyone copies (2 min).
- In pairs: one acts out a skill in slow motion without leaving the ground; the other guesses (3 min).
- Switch roles with a different skill (2 min).
- Each student says in one sentence which key point they remember best (1 min).
Rules
- Super slow movements, no jumps.
- No rolling or resting on the head: standing or kneeling only.
- Let the partner take their turn to guess.
- Talk quietly.
Variations
Easier
Arms-only skills.
Standard
Whole skill in slow motion, standing.
Harder
Link two skills in slow motion and the partner guesses the order.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: acts out skills with arms and torso from the wheelchair.
- Deaf students: works as is; answers given by gestures or written in the air.
- Shy students: acts out only for their partner, no audience.
Learning goals
- Bring arousal down gradually.
- Recall the key points of each skill.
- Communicate through the body.

Teacher tip
Works well while mats are being put away in turns. Typical mistake: speeding up to finish first; ask them to count "one-and-two" at each phase.
