Slow-Motion Instant Replay
In groups of four or five, students recreate a highlight from the lesson in slow motion without a ball, and the rest of the class tries to identify it. It builds expressive movement, slow controlled motion and reflection on the lesson.
How to play
- Make groups of four or five and ask them to recall a moment from class: a great play, a mistake, a helping hand or a celebration (1 min).
- Each group has 2 minutes to plan a 20-second slow-motion replay, with no equipment and no talking (2 min).
- Groups take turns performing; one member may narrate in a whispered sportscaster voice (3 min).
- The rest of the class watches silently and then tries to guess which moment it was.
- After each replay, the group explains why they chose that moment and what they learned from it.
- Finish: everyone does "the slowest celebration in the world" together, ending seated with three deep breaths (2 min).
Rules
- Movements are always very slow and controlled, with no rough contact.
- Never make fun of anyone when acting out a mistake.
- The audience watches silently until each replay ends.
- Everyone in the group takes part in the replay.
Variations
Easier
Each group acts out one simple individual skill, like a throw or a jump.
Standard
A 20-second replay of a team play from the lesson.
Harder
Perform the play twice: as it happened and as it should have gone to work better.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: the student narrates, or performs trunk and arm actions from a wheelchair.
- Shy students: they can take a smaller role in the scene.
- Students with autism: the teacher suggests a specific moment and explains the steps in advance.
Learning goals
- Control the body during slow, expressive movement.
- Recall and analyze game situations from the lesson.
- Work together to create a short performance.
Teacher tip
This works especially well after team sports. If a group picks someone's mistake, make sure that student is okay with it before the replay.
