Silent Judge: Score Your Partner's Finishing Pose
In pairs, one student holds a gymnastics finishing pose (balance, salute, support) and the other scores it silently by holding up one to three fingers. It lowers intensity through stillness and respectful assessment.

How to play
- Review three finishing poses: arms-up salute, one-leg balance and V-sit (2 min).
- Round 1: the performer holds 5 seconds; the judge shows one to three fingers without talking (2 min).
- Round 2 with a scarf on the head that must not fall (2 min).
- Switch roles and finish with: "your best pose was…" (2 min).
Rules
- Judges only use fingers, no comments.
- Score stillness and posture, never appearance.
- Poses close to the floor so no one falls.
- Each student chooses which pose to show.
Variations
Easier
Poses on two points of support.
Standard
One-support poses for 5 seconds.
Harder
Eyes closed during the pose.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: torso and arm poses from the wheelchair with a scarf on the head.
- Low vision: the judge scores with one, two or three claps instead of fingers.
- Hesitant students: choose seated poses only.
Learning goals
- Hold a steady, still finishing pose.
- Assess a partner respectfully.
- Cool down with body awareness.
Equipment for a class of 25
- mats: 15
- scarves: 15
Teacher tip
No scarves? A rolled sock or small cone works. Typical mistake: the judge talks; remind them silence is part of the game.
