Rulebook Walk: Badminton Rules Circuit
A cool-down where groups stroll between stations with rules and scoring questions. Heart rates drop while the learning sinks in.
How to play
- Six cones, each with a question card: even score and serving side, shuttle on the line, the 30-point cap, the 1.15 m height, touching the net, the doubles service court (1 min).
- Groups of four walk from station to station, discussing quietly and agreeing on an answer (4 min).
- At the end, each group gives one answer and the rest confirm with thumbs up or down (2 min).
- Clear up any lingering doubts in a minute (1 min).
Rules
- Walk, don't run, between stations.
- Everyone in the group weighs in before deciding.
- Cards stay at their cone.
Variations
Easier
Three stations with multiple-choice answers.
Standard
Six stations with open answers.
Harder
Each group writes a new question for next lesson.
Adaptations
- Low vision: large-print, high-contrast cards.
- Reading difficulties: one group member reads aloud, or cards include pictures.
- Limited mobility: stations closer together or cards passed hand to hand.
Learning goals
- Review the official rules.
- Make respectful group decisions.
- Bring intensity down gradually.
Equipment for a class of 25
- cards: 6
- cones: 6
Teacher tip
Laminate the cards and reuse them all unit. Answers: even score serves from the right, a shuttle on the line is in, at 29-all the next point wins, touching the net with racket or body during play is a fault.
