Rulebook True or False: Jump to the Right Side
The teacher reads statements about the rules of well-known sports, and students jump to the right of their chair for true and to the left for false. It warms up with short jumps and moves while reviewing the rulebook.
How to play
- Standing by your chair, ankle and knee mobility plus easy jumps in place (2 min).
- Basketball and soccer statements; after each jump, give the answer and the correct rule (3 min).
- Volleyball and team handball statements, answer within 3 seconds (3 min).
- Quick mixed round: miss one, do 3 squats and keep playing (2 min).
Rules
- Wait for the full statement before jumping.
- Short jump, one step over, without bumping the desk.
- Wrong answers don't knock anyone out: everyone plays every round.
- No making fun of anyone's answers.
Variations
Easier
Answer with a step instead of a jump, with more time to think.
Standard
Lateral jump and answer within 3 seconds.
Harder
Add a third option, "it depends," answered with a vertical jump and a quick explanation.
Adaptations
- Deaf or hard-of-hearing students: statements are projected on the board.
- Limited mobility: answer by turning the trunk or raising the right or left arm.
- Students who know less about sports: answer as a pair with someone who knows more.
Learning goals
- Warm up the legs with controlled jumps.
- Review basic team-sport rules.
- Make quick decisions from verbal information.
Teacher tip
Safe examples: basketball has five players per team on the court (true); in volleyball, the same player may touch the ball twice in a row when attacking (false). Prepare the statements ahead of time and avoid rules that changed recently.
