Road Sign Cleanup: One Rule for Every Sign
Cleaning up the road course becomes a review: every sign or cone goes away with a rule or a safe habit said out loud. It calms the class and leaves equipment tidy.

How to play
- In pairs, walking, collect the cones and signs from the course (2 min).
- To drop a sign in the box, say what it means and a real place on your way to school where you see it (3 min).
- Stack the cones in a line; each pair adds a cone while naming one safe bike or scooter habit (2 min).
- Final count: if no rule was repeated, the class wins the challenge (1 min).
Rules
- Everything is done walking.
- No repeating a rule someone already said.
- Your partner can help, but whoever drops the sign does the talking.
- Stack cones in fives.
Variations
Easier
Just name the sign.
Standard
Meaning plus a real place you see it.
Harder
Add what a pedestrian, a cyclist and a driver should each do at that sign.
Adaptations
- Deaf or hard-of-hearing students: may write the rule on a whiteboard or show it with gestures.
- Students with limited mobility: receive signs at a table and place them in the box.
- Shy students: may whisper it to their partner, who repeats it.
Learning goals
- Recall what road signs mean.
- Connect rules to their own neighborhood.
- Help put equipment away.
Equipment for a class of 25
- cardboard road signs: 12
- cones: 20
- boxes: 2
Teacher tip
Keep a list of safe habits handy in case the class stalls. It works well at the end of any session with a road course.
