Ringo Precision: Quiet Ring Toss onto Poles
A cool-down after a net game: toss ringo rings onto upright poles, quietly and without rushing. Precision demands breathing, slowing down and focusing, which helps bring heart rates down.

How to play
- Setup: five poles stood in cones; groups line up 3 meters from their pole (1 min).
- Silent round: each student throws three rings with ringo technique, flat and with the same hand; no talking, celebrate with a gesture only (3 min).
- Choose-your-distance round: each student throws from 3, 4 or 5 meters; ringers from farther earn more points (3 min).
- Walk to collect rings and add up the group's points (1 min).
Rules
- Silence during throws.
- No one collects rings until their group is done throwing.
- Throw flat and underhand, never toward another group.
- Collect rings walking.
Variations
Easier
Poles at 2 meters and any kind of ring.
Standard
Poles at 3 meters with chosen distance in the second round.
Harder
A ring only counts if it drops on without touching the pole.
Adaptations
- Wheelchair users throw from the same line with the pole tilted slightly toward them.
- Students with visual impairments: a teammate taps the pole gently to guide the throw.
- Very competitive students keep the group's tally, which counts by team, not by person.
Learning goals
- Bring arousal down after hard effort.
- Improve ring-throwing accuracy.
- Stay focused in a calm atmosphere.
Equipment for a class of 25
- ringo rings: 15
- pvc poles: 5
- cones: 5
Teacher tip
If you don't have ringo rings, rubber rings from ring-toss games work. Typical mistake: throwing fast to rack up points; remind them the point is to slow down.
