How to play
- The teacher asks: 'What did you do differently on your best attempt?' (1 min).
- Pairs walk around the track or schoolyard, each sharing their best attempt and tip (3 min).
- Each student writes their tip on a sticky note, no distances or numbers (1 min).
- Notes go on the wall chart grouped by event and the teacher reads three aloud (2 min).
Rules
- Talk about technique, not about who went farthest.
- Easy walking pace, no running.
- Listen without interrupting.
- Names on notes are optional.
Variations
Easier
Pick a tip from a list of five on the board.
Standard
Write the tip in your own words.
Harder
Also write what you will change next session.
Adaptations
- Writing difficulty: dictates the tip to a partner or draws it.
- Deaf or hard of hearing: walk face to face to support lip reading.
- Limited mobility: short, flat route, or sit in a circle.
Learning goals
- Reflect on your own technique.
- Share learning respectfully.
- Recover actively.
Equipment for a class of 25
- sticky notes: 30
- markers: 15
Teacher tip
Keep the chart and start next class by reading a few tips. Don't let it turn into a ranking: if someone writes a distance, ask them to swap it for a feeling.
