Quick Wash Bag: Clean-Up and Sort
A cool-down where students put away the lesson's equipment and, on every trip, sort a hygiene card into «in the wash bag» or «not a good idea». It wraps up class by tidying the space and reviewing post-exercise hygiene.
How to play
- Assignments: each team clears one area of equipment. On the way to the storage room there is a face-down pile of cards and two boxes (1 min).
- Walking clean-up: on each trip with equipment, grab a card and drop it in the right box: your own towel, a spare shirt, deodorant, shower sandals, your own bottle... or sharing towels, perfume instead of washing, the same sweaty shirt all day (4 min).
- Review: the teacher pulls out misplaced cards, and the group fixes them out loud (2 min).
- Exit: on the way out the door, each student names two things they will do in the locker room (1 min).
Rules
- Walk, do not run.
- One card per trip.
- Equipment is put away neatly, not tossed.
- Nobody comments on a specific classmate's smell or hygiene.
Variations
Easier
Picture cards and only 10 of them.
Standard
30 cards, two boxes.
Harder
Three boxes: «before class», «after class», and «not a good idea».
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: acts as checker by the boxes.
- Visual impairment: a partner reads the card and walks with them to storage.
- Students who avoid changing out of modesty: quietly offer alternatives like wipes and a clean shirt.
Learning goals
- Cool down in an orderly way.
- Review hygiene habits after exercise.
- Help take care of shared equipment.
Equipment for a class of 25
- hygiene cards: 30
- boxes: 2
Teacher tip
Laminate the cards and reuse them all year. If your school has no showers, focus on washing face and underarms and changing shirts.
