QR Code Hunt: Joint Mobility Around the Schoolyard
Ten cones spread around the schoolyard each carry a QR code that shows a mobility drill and how to travel to the next cone. Groups warm up joint by joint while learning to use QR codes with a clear purpose.

How to play
- Explain the task, test-scan the first code and jog easily around the yard (2 min).
- Each group of four starts at a different cone: scan, read the drill, do it for 30 seconds and travel to the next cone the way the code says (3 min).
- Second half of the route: the drills build in intensity, with light hops and faster travel between cones (3 min).
- The last code calls everyone to the center: quick review of the joints worked and one final sprint (2 min).
Rules
- Only one person per group scans; the rest start moving.
- Carry the tablet with both hands, and never run while looking at the screen.
- If a cone is taken, the group waits there doing ankle circles.
- Follow the order: no skipping codes.
Variations
Easier
Six codes, with drills shown as photos instead of text.
Standard
Ten codes with a drill and a way to travel.
Harder
Each code adds a short question about which joint moves and in which planes.
Adaptations
- Students with visual impairments: the tablet reads the text aloud with its screen reader.
- Limited mobility: place the codes on a flat route and let them travel at their own pace.
- Students who struggle with reading: each drill comes with a picture.
Learning goals
- Mobilize the main joints before exercise.
- Read and follow short instructions.
- Use QR codes to organize a movement task.
Equipment for a class of 25
- printed qr codes: 10
- cones: 10
- tablets: 7
Teacher tip
Make plain-text QR codes, not links: the camera reads them with no internet. Laminate the codes and tape them to the cones, and they'll last all year.
