Progression Walk: Explain Your Next Step While You Stroll

An active cool-down: in pairs, students walk slowly around the perimeter and each explains to the other what level they're at on one exercise, what they need to move up and what they'll do next week. It brings the heart rate down while locking in the session's learning.

How to play

  1. Easy partner walk around the track with shoulder and wrist mobility on the move (2 min).
  2. First lap of explaining: student A describes their current level on one exercise and the standard they used to choose it; B only listens and asks one question (2 min).
  3. Second lap: switch roles (2 min).
  4. Final stop: each pair writes one sentence on the other's sheet with their next step and a target date to try it (2 min).

Rules

Variations

Easier

Guide questions on the sheet (What level? Why? What's missing?).

Standard

Open explanation plus one question from the partner.

Harder

The listener also suggests a different variable to progress (tempo, range or pause).

Teacher tip

Works best when students have logged their level during the session. The usual problem is drifting off topic: give a signal halfway through each lap to bring back the question.
