How to play

  1. In pairs, standing an arm's length apart: one does the challenge, the other claps the beat and counts successes. Switch every challenge (1 min).
  2. Nose and ear (2 min): the right hand holds the nose and the left hand crosses in front to hold the right ear; clap and switch hands.
  3. Thumb and pinky (2 min): one hand shows a thumb and the other a pinky; switch on each clap.
  4. Elbow to knee (2 min): march in place touching each knee with the opposite elbow, slowly at first, then to the partner's claps.
  5. Head and tummy (2 min): one hand pats the head while the other rubs circles on the tummy; switch on the signal.
  6. Final challenge (3 min): the pair links three challenges without stopping and shows them to another pair, who tries to copy them.

Rules

Variations

Easier

Do the challenges without a beat, with time to think about each switch.

Standard

Switch on a beat of one clap per second.

Harder

Combine two challenges at once, such as elbow to knee plus thumb and pinky.

Teacher tip

Demonstrate first and make a mistake on purpose to lower the pressure. These challenges make a great movement break between classroom tasks on rainy days.
