How to play
- Pairs face each other across a line of cones, about three meters apart, each with a stick and a ball (1 min).
- The leader moves the ball side to side, forward and back, using forehand and backhand taps; the partner mirrors it (3 min).
- Switch leaders whenever the teacher claps, without stopping the ball (2 min).
- Moving mirror: the pair shuffles sideways along the cone line, keeping three meters apart and the ball glued to the blade (3 min).
- Wrist mobility and a gentle calf stretch leaning on the stick (1 min).
Rules
- Nobody crosses the cone line: each player stays on their side.
- Move the ball with short taps and keep the stick below the waist.
- The leader suggests moves the partner can copy; it's not about beating them.
Variations
Easier
The leader only moves the ball sideways, standing in place.
Standard
Moves in all directions, switching leaders on the clap.
Harder
The follower copies while looking at the partner, not at their own ball.
Adaptations
- Blind or low-vision students: the pair stands one meter apart and the leader calls out each direction.
- Ankle or leg injury: does the drill standing still, moving only the ball.
- Students with coordination difficulties: use a tennis ball or a larger ball that is easier to control.
Learning goals
- Control the ball with short forehand and backhand taps.
- Keep attention on a partner while handling the ball.
- Cooperate by matching a partner's pace.
Equipment for a class of 25
- floorball sticks: 30
- floorball balls: 30
- cones: 16
Teacher tip
Pair students quickly by who is standing nearby to save time. If a student keeps losing the ball, ask them to bend their knees more and spread their hands on the stick.
