Loot Inventory: Color Clean-Up With a Countdown
Each team collects one color or type of equipment from the big game, walking and using a calm carrying style, then counts it to hand in an inventory. It brings heart rates down and leaves the yard tidy.
How to play
- The teacher assigns each team a type of equipment and an area; walk there without running (1 min).
- Collect using a carrying style: cones on top of the head, pinnies folded over the forearm, hoops rolled with one hand (3 min).
- Silent count: the team counts its equipment and stacks it neatly by the storage area (2 min).
- Inventory report: a spokesperson quietly gives the number and one thing another team did well during the game (2 min).
Rules
- Everyone walks; anyone who runs goes back to the start line.
- Pinnies get folded, not balled up.
- Don't carry more than you can see over.
- The spokesperson role rotates every class.
Variations
Easier
No special carrying style, just walk and count.
Standard
Carrying challenges and a silent count.
Harder
Count using gestures only, and the teacher checks if it matches.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: receives the team's equipment and counts as it arrives.
- Visual impairment: collects with a partner who guides them to the cones and counts out loud.
- Students still wound up after the game: take the hardest carry (stacked cones balanced).
Learning goals
- Lower activation gradually.
- Help organize and look after the equipment.
- Recognize good play by other teams.
Equipment for a class of 25
- cones: 20
- pinnies: 15
- hoops: 4
- scarves: 4
Teacher tip
Assign equipment before you blow the final whistle, so nobody races for the easiest job. If cones are missing, the inventory reveals it and the team walks back to find them.
