Human Whiteboard: Draw the 6-0 with Your Bodies
Walking, groups of six line up as a 6-0 defense and shift as the teacher moves a ball around them. It reviews the session's tactics while the body cools down.
How to play
- Groups of 6 walk to the cone line marking the goal area and set up in a 6-0 (1 min).
- The teacher walks around with the ball; groups shift at a walk and the closest defender steps forward (3 min).
- One student per group plays teacher and moves the ball while the rest correct the spacing (3 min).
- Final question in place: which spot is hardest and why? (1 min).
Rules
- Walking only.
- Correct with words, no pushing.
- Everyone tries a central and a side spot.
- Quiet when the ball mover is speaking.
Variations
Easier
The teacher stops at each spot before moving.
Standard
Ball moving slowly and continuously.
Harder
Two pretend balls and the group decides which to step out to.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: takes a central spot and the group matches their pace.
- Visually impaired students: a partner takes their arm and tells them where the ball is.
- Students with attention difficulties: they move the ball.
Learning goals
- Review the 6-0 defensive structure.
- Understand who steps out and who closes in.
- Lower the heart rate by walking.
Equipment for a class of 25
- cones: 12
- handballs: 1
Teacher tip
It doubles as a quick assessment: you'll see who understands the shift without giving a test. No cones? The court's goal-area line works just as well.
