How to play
- Quick review of techniques covered: straight arms, rest, flag, toe placement, down-climbing and three points of contact (2 min).
- Groups of five: taking turns, one student freezes in a position with feet on the lowest rung and the group guesses (3 min).
- Whoever guesses explains in one sentence what that position is for (2 min).
- Finish: each group picks its best-done position and shows it to the class (1 min).
Rules
- Feet only on the lowest rung or on the floor.
- Hold the position for a few seconds and step down.
- Guess by raising a hand, no shouting.
Variations
Easier
The teacher gives three options to choose from.
Standard
Guess with no hints.
Harder
Two techniques combined in the same position.
Adaptations
- Students with low vision: the student posing describes it with three clues without naming it.
- Limited mobility: poses with arms and upper body from a wheelchair, holding a low rung.
- Shy students: may guess instead of posing.
Learning goals
- Remember the name and purpose of each technique.
- Control the body in static positions.
- Bring activation down gradually.
Equipment for a class of 25
- wall bars: 6
Teacher tip
Leave a poster with the unit's technique names on the wall. Common mistake: climbing higher to make the pose look cooler; the lowest rung is enough.
