Game Report: Stretching While Reviewing the Score Sheet
A cool-down where teams stretch in a circle while the scorekeeper reads the game data and the referee explains their calls. It ends with a signed game report and one tactical and fair-play improvement.
How to play
- Easy walk around the field breathing through the nose while everyone helps put equipment away (2 min).
- Each team sits in a circle on mats and holds 30-second static stretches for hamstrings, quads and shoulders while its scorekeeper reads runs, points, fouls and outs (4 min).
- In a hip stretch, the group picks one questionable call and the referee explains it with the rulebook in hand (2 min).
- Captains, referee and scorekeeper sign the report card and write one specific proposal for the next game (2 min).
Rules
- Hold stretches without bouncing and without reaching pain.
- Listen to the referee without interrupting; questions are raised respectfully at the end.
- The improvement proposal must be a specific action, not a complaint.
Variations
Easier
Read only the final score.
Standard
Data reading, review of one referee call and signing the report.
Harder
Each team calculates a derived stat (success rate or runs per inning) and interprets it.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: stretches trunk and shoulders from the wheelchair and can read the report aloud.
- Hearing impairment: the scorekeeper shows the card in writing and the group sits to make lip-reading easy.
- Autism: has a fixed, predictable role, such as writing the final proposal.
Learning goals
- Return to a calm state after exercise with appropriate stretching.
- Interpret the game data collected by the scorekeeper.
- Evaluate referee calls based on knowledge of the rules.
Equipment for a class of 25
- exercise mats: 28
- cards: 6
- pencils: 6
Teacher tip
Keep the reports: they are useful assessment evidence for fair-play criteria. It works as the closing for any game in this unit.
