Free Your Neck: Stretch Challenges After Screen Time
A partner cool-down with stretches for the areas phones and computers strain most, each with a small challenge. The body relaxes without losing the game feel.

How to play
- Chest stretch on the wall: forearm against the wall with the elbow at shoulder height, then gently turn the body away. The partner checks the elbow. 20 seconds per side, no talking (2 min).
- Chin tuck challenge: back against the wall with a sheet of paper between the back of the head and the wall; it must not drop for 10 seconds without lifting the chin. Three reps (2 min).
- Low-lunge hip flexor stretch holding a ball overhead: the challenge is keeping the ball from wobbling for 20 seconds per side (2 min).
- Final chain: each pair invents an «after-screens» stretch and teaches it to the pair next to them in 10 seconds (2 min).
Rules
- Stretch without pain, just gentle tension.
- No bouncing.
- Partners help position, never push.
- Silence during timed stretches.
Variations
Easier
No ball challenge, stretches done seated.
Standard
Stretches with challenges as described.
Harder
In the lunge, add slow trunk rotations while keeping the ball overhead.
Adaptations
- Wheelchair users: chest and neck stretches are the same; the lunge becomes a side bend holding the ball.
- Knee injury: do the lunge standing with a hand on the wall or swap it for a side-lying quad stretch.
- Visual impairment: the partner positions by touch and describes each position.
Learning goals
- Stretch the chest, neck, and hips, the areas most loaded by sitting.
- Recover after effort.
- Create and teach an original stretch.
Equipment for a class of 25
- sheets of paper: 15
- balls: 15
Teacher tip
Any gym or schoolyard wall works. The most common error is lifting the chin during the tuck: cue «double chin» and a long neck.
