How to play
- Joint mobility while each team picks its cap color and sets out its box (1 min).
- Round one: one at a time, run to the center pile, pick a cap of your color and drop it in your box (2 min).
- Round two: each trip carries one cap of your color and one of another color, delivered to the right box (2 min).
- Round three: use a different way of moving each trip (shuffle, high knees, lunges) (2 min).
- Quick check: each team makes sure no caps in its box are in the wrong place (1 min).
Rules
- One cap per hand per trip; no grabbing handfuls.
- Go only after the previous runner high-fives you.
- If two people are already at the pile, wait a second before bending down.
- A clean box beats a fast one.
Variations
Easier
Pile closer and one color per team.
Standard
Pile 10 m away and two colors per trip.
Harder
Pile 15 m away and every trip goes around a middle cone.
Adaptations
- Color blindness: caps also differ in size or are marked with tape.
- Limited mobility: caps on a table at their height and a shorter course.
- Lower-body injury: acts as quality inspector at the boxes and flags mistakes.
Learning goals
- Warm up with short sprints and changes of direction.
- Work together in an orderly relay.
- Link physical activity to recycling habits.
Equipment for a class of 25
- plastic bottle caps: 120
- cardboard boxes: 10
- cones: 10
Teacher tip
Collect caps for a couple of weeks beforehand; every household has plenty. Spread the pile inside a big circle so nobody bumps heads while bending down.
